Activities During the Easter Break
Wilts and Berks Canal Trust Easter Egg Hunt
Look what's happening on the canal at Waitrose this Easter! We are running an Easter egg trail with a reward of a small package of chocolate eggs, some kindly donated by Waitrose. The event is from 10.30am - 4pm each day from Good Friday to Easter Monday inclusive. Even better, Bentley the bear, currently on furlough from Paris Disney, will be there Sat, Sun & hopefully Monday!! In case you're wondering, we have taken Covid precautions approved by the Trust's Health & Safety Officer, detailed below.
The event is entirely in the open air. At least two volunteers, with santised hands or wearing gloves, will be present in a gazebo on the jetty by the boat.
There will be a trail of nine 'eggs' along a signposted trail along the towpath. Family teams, in groups of up to 6 or two households, will be given a sheet of paper with the task, some puzzles etc on and a pencil. They will go off, find the clues, write the letters down, & come back to claim their little bag of Easter eggs.
We will ensure that everyone maintains social distancing. No member of the public will be allowed inside the boat, although Bentley will use the boat as his lair.
When participants return to claim their prize, they will be given a small bag of chocolate eggs, all foil wrapped, placed in the bag in advance. Bentley the bear may hand out the bags, but only his costume will touch them.
