Monday 8th June

Monday 8th June

Hello!

Assembly

Today we have a new assembly, you can find it in the Assemblies section that I have added below. It is by Mrs Phillips and is the assembly that has been shown in school today. The theme is Love.

Home Learning

As you have been made aware previously, from today (Monday 8th June), things will start to run a little differently for Home Learning for Reception.

From today, we will be placing two weeks worth of Home Learning at a time onto the Class Pages for the following areas:

  • Art and Crafts
  • Get Moving!
  • Maths
  • Stories
  • Understanding of the World
  • Writing

This is due to the fact that over half of our team will be in school welcoming those returning, and the others will be working very hard behind the scenes to ensure Home Learning still takes place, but with less staff power.

We ask you to be patient with us as one teacher (Miss Francis next week) will be responding to all Home Learning posts.

To help the smooth running in this transition period could we again ask that you:

  • Put all learning into one post
  • Send your ILD post by 4pm

We will still continue to monitor home school learning and will continue to post Photo of the Day, but we will be removing the Superstar Workers of the Week.

It looks like you are all enjoying the story of Hansel and Gretel.

Guidance for Read Write Inc Phonics at Home

Please use the Speed Sounds and Spelling lessons each day. You will find them on the Ruth Miskin page on YouTube.

From 1st June, all films will be available from 9.30am.

  • Mrs Biddiscombe’s Group Set 3
  • Miss Algeo’s Group Set 3
  • Miss Francis’ Group Set 3
  • Mrs McGregor’s Group Set 3
  • Miss Barlow’s Group Set 3

Remember that there are also new daily reading films. As the Speed Sounds and Spelling lessons are already 30 minutes long (in total), we suggest that you do the reading films but we would not say that you must do them. (Although they are only about 3 minutes long).

The films are:

  • Read Red Words 1 (for all children)
  • Read Longer Words (for children who can read Set 3 sounds and words confidently)

At https://www.ruthmiskin.com/en/find-out-more/parents/ you will find the 'Read Write Inc Phonics Guide for Parents. Here you will also find other helpful parent videos.

I hope you all have a lovely evening!

Miss Francis
