Letter from Co-Chair of Governors

15th September 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

To introduce ourselves, we are Charlotte Best and Charlotte Eynon, Co-Chairs of East Wichel Primary School Governing Board.

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your children back to the new academic year at East Wichel Primary School. The last few months have been changing, especially for parents and carers.

Following the return of schools after a prolonged break, it is inevitable that the common cold will circulate, in many cases children will be able to continue to attend school in these circumstances with little or no impact on their education. In other circumstances, for example with a heavy cold, they may require a day or two off of school to recover. This is not the case for children with symptoms of Covid-19. These children are required to self-isolate with their household and book a Covid-19 test by calling 119 or by using the following link https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

Please be assured that the school is doing everything they can to reduce the chance of infection and to keep your children safe. A comprehensive risk assessment is in place that has been approved by Swindon Borough Council and East Wichel Governing Board.

To update you on the measures the school has taken to ensure that your children are as safe and protected as possible during this Coronavirus crisis: classrooms have been organised to ensure that children are spaced apart, children are being kept in bubbles and hand sanitisers are available in every bubble entrance. Each bubble has its own bin and a separate tissue bin. Social distancing is being put in place as much as possible. Corridors are divided into directional sides, there are separate entrances per bubble and staggered start and finish times to ensure children from different bubbles do not cross.

We would also like to ask parents to help. On the playground, when dropping your children off, please socially distance and wear a face covering wherever possible. We will be appreciative of this, as you are important role models to your children.

We wish you all well and look forward to working with you throughout this academic year.

Best Wishes

Charlotte Best & Charlotte Eynon
Co-Chair of Governors & The East Wichel Governing Board
