New Government Covid Advice

Dear Parent/Carer

You will be aware that there has been a significant rise in the number of positive Covid 19 cases within the Swindon area.

As always, we continue to follow government guidance, doing everything we can to keep our children and staff as safe as possible.

As of 1st November, we would ask parents to follow new Government advice:

If you have a positive case of Covid 19 in your household:

All members should take a PCR test

It is now advised that children (at the discretion of Parent/Carers) take a daily Lateral Flow test until the results of their PCR test have been received. If the Lateral Flow tests are negative children can continue to attend school whilst waiting for their PCR test results, providing they are symptom free.

Colds and other non-Covid symptoms are circulating, we would ask that these symptoms are treated as possible COVID therefore trigging isolation and testing.
If your child is unwell we would ask they stay at home until symptom free. If a PCR test has been taken and has returned negative for COVID individuals should still wait until 24 hours post any fever before returning to school.

If your child has been identified as a close contact of a positive case of Covid 19:

It is recommend to do a daily Lateral Flow test whilst individuals await their PCR results. If the lateral flow tests are negative children can continue to attend school.

Please note that schools are no longer involved in the close contact test and trace process unless we are contacted by the NHS and/or PHE.

As a school we will

Continue with all our current measures and further reduce the mixing of larger groups by pausing whole KS2 assemblies and reducing the number of students in the hall.

Thank you for your continued support
