Transition Activities

Transition Activities

Hello,

As we are unable to meet in person prior to starting Nursery, we would like to give you a couple of activities so that we can learn more about your child and your family.

My Family

At East Wichel, we understand the importance of family. In our home corner, we would like to display a photograph of each child’s family. Please can you take a recent family photograph and bring the photograph with you on your child’s first day at Nursery. Please bring the photograph in a named envelope.

Special Me

We would like your child to choose 5 of their favourite toys from home and take a photograph of them with these. Please print out the photograph and bring it with you on your child’s first day at Nursery. Please bring the photograph in a named envelope.

Your Summer

We would like to find out about what you did during the summer. This is great for starting conversations on your child’s first day. Please can you bring in a couple of photographs to show your favourite parts of the summer. This doesn’t have to be anything big, it might be spending time with family, playing in the paddling pool etc. Please print out the photograph and bring it with you on your child’s first day at Nursery. Please bring the photograph in a named envelope.

What are your favourite stories and nursery rhymes?

At East Wichel, we put reading and rhymes at the heart of all of our learning. We would like to fill the classroom with the children’s favourite stories for when they start with us. Please fill in the document below, giving the title and author of your child’s 5 favourite books to share together at home. We would also like to ensure we are singing lots of their favourite songs.

Who lives in your house?

Using the template below, ask your child to draw a picture of who lives in their family home. If you could label who is in the picture, this would be a great help for us.
