Volunteers in School
Volunteering at East Wichel Community Primary
School and Nursery
At East Wichel Community Primary School & Nursery, we always welcome volunteers to assist us with a wide range of activities.
In order to ensure the safety of our children it is a legal requirement that all regular helpers are cleared by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This is not as daunting as it may sound!
If you have resided in another country as an adult aged 21 years old and over for a period of 6 months or more in the last 5 years, you will also need to obtain police checks from those countries.
You can find out how to do so at
There may be additional costs to do this which are not covered by the school.
You will also be asked to
- meet with our Volunteer Coordinator to discuss what you would like to support the school with and how we can both get the most out of your time with us. This is usually a friendly telephone call.
- provide 2 contacts from which whom we are able to obtain references from.
- take a LFD before coming into volunteer and wear a mask when moving around the school.
Having a good supply of volunteers enables us to do activities with the children that we otherwise wouldn’t and so we are always grateful for your support.
Volunteers with children in the school will be asked to work in another class.
Please contact the School Office email@example.com or call 01793 695134 to express an interest in volunteering.
