Wednesday 10th June

Wednesday 10th June

Good morning!

Today we begin with the amazing news that zoos and wildlife parks are allowed to open again on Monday 15th June! I will write about what this will mean for our local attractions tomorrow as there will undoubtably be restrictions in place that involve pre-booking etc.

As it looks set to be a rainy day, I thought we would have a museum visit. So today we are visiting the Oxford Museum of Natural History. Here you can see the highlights of the collection, including the Oxford Dodo and the Oxfordshire Dinosaurs as well as exploring the collection online. There is also a link to an interesting exhibition called First Animals, which 'tells the story of how animal life first evolved in the oceans over half a billion years ago.' I particularly like the 'Learning Zone' which is divided into Animals, Fossils, Insects, Minerals, Rocks and Funstuff. Each section has a range of information, activities and games and there are further interactive games in the Funstuff section. It's definitely worth a visit.

All of the links are in the Museums section.

Happy exploring!

As usual, if you have any comments, or suggestions for virtual visits, you can contact me using the Contact Form on the Scotland Class page. Thank you to those who have done this already.
