Wednesday 20th May

Good morning!

One of my favourite places to go to make me happy is The Lion King at London's Lyceum Theatre. It is magical! Unfortunately it is closed at the moment, and is also not one of the musicals that has been streamed in full. However, you can experience a lot of the magic on our visit today, with the help of the Lyceum Theatre and YouTube! The Backstage section of the web-site has some fantastic videos, including; Introducing the Wardrobe Department (showing how the amazing costumes are made), Bringing the Sounds of the Serengeti to Life (exploring all of the different drums used in the show), Dance Class (showing how the ensemble performers learn their amazing choreography) and the incredible Masks and Puppets Department. I have included several extracts from the musical, particularly amazing is The Circle of Life where the animals parade through the auditorium and onto the stage. The Lion King Behind the Scenes series, introduced by Ben Shephard is definitely worth watching too.

All of the links are in the Circus and Theatres section.

Happy exploring!

As usual, if you have any comments, or suggestions for virtual visits, you can contact me using the Contact Form on the Scotland Class page. Thank you to those who have done this already.
