Welcome to France Class
We would like to let all of our children and families know that we are thinking of them during this difficult time. We hope you all stay safe and positive.
To ensure that we can still support and communicate with you whilst the school is closed, we will be updating classroom Dojo regularly. This will be the home learning platform and we will regularly upload work, website links and ideas for PE, arts and crafts and extra challenge etc. We will also be able to monitor your uploads and we would really love for families to stay in contact via the Dojo Portfolio with photographs and videos! Well done to those who have done this, it is heartwarming to watch the children interact with me about their day! Please keep in touch everyday!

Phonics at Year 1
In June, the phonics screening check will be taken individually by all Year 1 pupils. There are two sections in this 40-word check and it assesses phonics skills and knowledge learned throughout Foundation Stage and Year 1.
You may be aware that we are now teaching phonics through the Ruth Miskin programme Read Write Inc. (RWI). A letter went home with your children inviting you to attend one of two workshops here at school, on the 28th January. If you have any concerns in the meantime, please come and speak to us or alternatively follow this link to the Oxford Owl web page where there is lots of information to support phonics at home with your child.
Thank you for continuing to embrace the Reading Diaries. Please continue to read with your child/ren as often and as many times as you can throughout the week and record what has been read, how well and any discussion that has taken place. Every Monday I will look through the Diaries and award a house point for everyday the child has read. The house points will be collected and then these will earn rewards.
Thank you for your continued support with the Knowledge Organisers. It is a work in progress and I am seeing some amazing work that is being done at home with the children, additional work too that is not required, so thank you. This has been reflected in class as the term has gone on and the children's ability to recall facts, spellings and additional information linked to what we are doing in class, so thank you for all your support!!! Every Friday we look at our Knowledge Organisers and I share the good practise with the class for ideas and support for their own independent learning.
Term fours knowledge organiser has now gone out, so please look out for it in the Knowledge Organiser Book, our new topic 'Who's eating who?' We will be learning about animal classifications, herbivores, carnivores and omnivores and Geographical locations Swindon and Peru and the Amazon Rainforest.
PE will take place twice a week and one of these sessions will be outdoors. Please ensure your child has a named PE kit in school every day which includes trainers for outside PE.
