Our topic this term is "Let's get ready to rumble".  We will be learning all about earthquakes, their causes and the effects they can have on people's lives and the environment.

In English this term, we will be learning all about Kennings, trying to guess what they are about and write our own version. We will also be creating explanation texts about earthquakes.

In Maths, we will be focusing on shape and length and perimeter.  We will be exploring different types of turns, angles and also how we can measure and calculate the perimeter of different shapes.

Term 2

This term our topic is "May the force be with you" with a science focus on forces and magnets.  The children will be conducting lots of experiments and exploring the differences between pushes and pulls.

In English this term will be be studying the test Oliver and the Sea Wigs and using this as inspiration for our own adventure stories.  The book sounds so exciting and we can't wait to read it. Here is the blurb, we hope you are as excited as we are.

"For as long as he can remember, Oliver has been travelling the world, having exciting adventures with his explorer parents. But he's actually quite pleased when they realise they are no longer any blank spaces left on the map to explore, and decide to head home to Deepwater Bay, where Oliver can have his own bedroom and go to school.

But Oliver's peaceful life at Deepwater Bay is soon interrupted when his parents mysteriously disappear. Teaming up with some unusual new friends - a grumpy albatross, a short-sighted mermaid, and a friendly island called Cliff - Oliver sets out to rescue them. But first he must defeat the evil Stacey De Lacey and his pesky army of sea monkeys..."
