Year 4 - Egypt

School Closure Update

Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are aware, the school is now closed to the vast majority of pupils but we will like you to know that we are thinking of you and your family in this difficult time.Your child's learning is very important to us so we would like to continue to provide them with continued education whilst they are at home. We will be communicating mainly via 'Class Dojo'. Daily tasks will be uploaded on there to be completed by each child. We welcome photographs and videos of the children's work so that we can give them feedback and award them some points for their effort. If you are experiencing any difficulties or have any questions, please send  us a message on class dojo and we will respond as soon as possible.

Thank you for your continued support

Egypt Class

Welcome to Egypt Class!

The teachers in Year 4 are Mrs Matthews (China Class) and Miss Wilkinson (Egypt Class).

The teaching assistants are Mrs Mackay and Mrs Suida.

Term 3

Our topic this term is 'The Lost World', which links to our Science topic Habitats. We will be investigating local area habitats as well as thinking about the wider world and the environmental impact humans are having on it.

In English, we will start the term by reading the book 'The Journey Home'. We will use it to inspire our own research which will lead to debating and writing on endangered species. Later in the term, we'll use the book 'The Lost Words' to create our own acrostic poems. At the end of term, we'll be writing some persuasive letters to local companies.  We are very excited to get investigating!

We would be grateful if you could take the time to talk with your child and support them using the Knowledge Organisers. Separate guidance on how to do this is available in the Practice Books.

Volunteering

If you are interested in volunteering in school please come in and see us; we love having helpers in! (You will need to be DBS checked, if you haven't already been checked please see Mrs Drew in the office.)

PE will take place twice a week and one of these sessions will be outdoors. Year 4's PE days are Monday and Wednesday. Please ensure your child has a named PE kit in school every day which includes trainers for outside PE.

Please do come and see me should you have any concerns. We want you and your child/ren to be happy at East Wichel.

With many thanks for your continued support.

Miss Wilkinson
