Year 6 - Brazil
F.A.O Parents and Carers
As you are aware we should have been taking the Year 6 children swimming in Term 6 as part of the requirements of the National Curriculum but, like so many things, this has clearly not been possible.
However, as part of our PE and Sport Premium funding we have to report on how many children in Year 6 have reached the required level of the National Curriculum - this is defined by the number of children who can confidently swim 25 metres using a variety of strokes and can also show an understanding of water safety and perform self rescue. This still has to be reported this year even with school closures, therefore we are having to be creative!
Firstly please could I ask that you complete this short online survey which will inform us how competent your child is at swimming. There are only 3 multiple choice questions so it shouldn't take long! Please could I ask that this be completed by Monday 29th June. This information will be kept confidentially and no names will be shared in our reporting, it is purely percentages of children.
Earlier in the term I posted some activities on the Dojo pages around Water Safety and Self Rescue and some children completed these successfully. Please could I now ask that all children complete these activities by the end of July as this will form part of our reporting. I will re-post these so children can easily find them.
This message has been posted on the Class Dojo pages and sent out via the School App.
Thank you for your support with this.
We miss you all. Please stay home and stay safe.
Mrs Alabi ( Class Teacher)
School Closure Update
As you are aware, the school is now closed to the vast majority of pupils but we will like you to know that we are thinking of you and your family in this difficult time.Your child's learning is very important to us so we would like to continue to provide them with continued education whilst they are at home. We will be communicating mainly via 'Class Dojo'. Daily tasks will be uploaded on there to be completed by each child. We welcome photographs and videos of the children's work so that we can give them feedback and award them some points for their effort. If you are experiencing any difficulties or have any questions, please send us a message on class dojo and we will respond as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support

Welcome to Year 6
Welcome to Brazil Class. We hope that you will have a wonderful year with us - we have some exciting learning opportunities planned!
Please do check this page regularly for any updates and look at the Knowledge Organisers below to see what we will be learning about and focusing upon each term.
If you are interested in volunteering in school please come in and see us; we love having helpers in! (You will need to be DBS checked, if you haven't already been checked please see Mrs Drew or Miss Finney in the office.)
PE will take place twice a week (Thursday and Friday) and one of these sessions will be outdoors. Please ensure your child has a named PE kit in school every day which includes trainers for outside PE.
Please do come and see me should you have any concerns. We want you and your child/ren to be happy at East Wichel.
Many thanks for your continued support.
