Family Support Worker

I have been working in education for the past twenty five years, i started as a teaching assistant and worked my way up to being a qualified teacher. I am also a mother of three grown up children and I am lucky to have had three grandchildren in this past year. I am also currently undertaking a counselling degree to help develop my role here within the school.

I’m very aware that parenting is both rewarding but can be a challenge too.
Many families experience pressures, which can impact on parents and children in different ways. This is
normal.
My job is to support pupils and their families – to help all children make the most of their time at our school.
My aim is to work with you. I am available to chat over issues of concern regarding your child, for example:
behaviour, personal routines, social skills and self-esteem. We can put plans in place to try and improve the
situation together – and then follow-up with meetings/chats to see how things are progressing.
Class teachers may also refer children to me if they have any concerns. I’ll contact parents to discuss these
matters over the telephone or invite them in for a meeting.

Some of the ways I may be able to help your family:

• Student Counselling
•  A point-of-contact at school, to chat over any concerns
• 1:1 sessions with children and/or their parents
• Support when there is a family crisis (eg. Bereavement, Anxiety etc)
• Work with children and parents to overcome issues that affect learning
• Signpost to other organisations
