PE
At East Wichel School we are passionate about Physical Education and Sport with every pupil having the opportunity to take part in physical activity on a regular basis so they become physically competent and confident.
We hope through all the physical activity and sporting opportunities we offer, the pupils will develop a love and passion for physical exercise and sport which they will continue to participate in throughout their lives, contributing not only to their physical health but just as importantly, their mental health.
Every pupil in KS1 and KS2 is provided with 2 hours of fun, exciting and active PE lessons every week, where they have the chance to challenge themselves and compete in a friendly, supportive environment against each other.
In Nursery and FS2 physical activity is built into their everyday learning as well as having a 1 hour weekly PE lesson which focuses on fundamental movement skills using familiar songs and stories.
At East Wichel we strive to give as many pupils as possible the opportunity to compete in a variety of competitions during school time and by representing the school at local and county-wide competitions. We hope that in doing so the pupils develop great confidence, team work skills and learn to win or lose with grace and sportsmanship.
It is also important that we create sports leaders during the pupil’s time at East Wichel. We aim to offer lots of pupils the opportunity to lead sporting activities during and outside of their PE lessons, organise games, events and learn to lead by example. By emphasising leadership, we hope the pupils learn the importance of communication, organisation, community, aspiration, perseverance and a respect for the rules.
PE and Sport are a key experience at East Wichel and we hope this continues to grow and helps in preparing our pupils for their future lives after they leave us.
Please see the PE and Sports Premium page for more details on all the activities we do in PE and how we spend the funding we receive.
