I work for the Ministry of Defence, where I am a Programme Manager with responsibility for delivering scientific capability and the development of new research facilities. Previously, I was a post-doctoral research fellow in the School of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nottingham. I enjoy hill walking with my husband, Paul, and am a keen amateur landscape photographer. We have a son, Theo, who was born in 2012.
I work part-time as a Life Insurance Actuary and Programme Manager at Zurich and spend the rest of my time with my children and, at weekends, my husband. I enjoy trying new craft activities and involving the children as much as possible. I am looking forward to working with the Governors and Staff to make East Wichel the best it can be.
I am a Project Manager working in the construction industry, through my career I have undertaken many school extension projects and been involved in building new schools. I have also been part of a University’s in house estates team. Through these roles I have learnt how important Governor support is in the well running of a school, and I wanted to help in my local community. I have two young girls who keep me busy and if there is a quiet moment I love to knit or crochet and hoard wool.
I am a senior business intelligence developer, working to provide the right data to allow the right analysis.
I have a Degree in Business Management and currently work for Microsoft in the Commercial sales business – specialising in Contracts & Licensing for the last 5 years. My family and I moved to East Wichel 4 years ago. My 2 children attend the school. I hope to be able to help the school build upon the success it is already achieving.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with family and friends and visiting new places.
I am a qualified secondary school teacher. My wife and I moved to Swindon in 1974. We now have three children, who attended schools in Walcot West.I was initially employed in Swindon to run various youth and adult centres in the town.In 1980 I was re-deployed to Swindon College to be responsible for the North-East Wiltshire Adult Education programme. In 1990 I became the College’s Director of Student Services. In 1999 I took early retirement from College employment, to work with local radio and television to promote lifelong learning, particularly computer education for adult beginners.
For 5 years I served on the Education Committee of the Crafts Council of England and Wales. More recently I have been the Secretary of the National School Band Association which existed to promote the establishment of school bands in every school. Currently I am the Chair of the East Wichel Governing Body. I have four grandchildren, two of whom attend East Wichel School, so I have at least two reasons to work for the good of the school, and ensure we are the best we can be!
I have a strong background in mathematics, science and IT. I work as an Actuarial Analyst at Zurich. I have a passion for higher learning and progressive education. I hope to use my skillset to help enrich the experience of the children at the school.
I am Tutor Manager and Safeguarding Officer at New College Swindon. Previously, I have worked in Management and lecturing across various Educational sectors, state and private, including college, school, SEN and adult education.
Curriculum, quality and Child Protection are my driving factors; to provide every child with a comfortable, secure, nurturing environment in order for them to develop and thrive. I am very pleased to be working with the East Wichel Governing Board, supporting and further developing such an already successful school and nursery.
I work at the Science and Technologies Facilities Council as a Corporate Strategy and Impact Programme Manager. I have a background in biomedical and forensic science and have moved to the UK from Canada about 12 years ago. I enjoy kickboxing, spending time with my family and have two sons, one who currently attends the school. I am very happy to be a parent governor for the school and looking forward to helping the school achieve its strategic vision so the children can reach their full potential.
Both my children love coming to school and as a family we rate highly the teaching and care that they receive at East Wichel. Becoming a parent governor will allow me to contribute to the life of the school and help shape its future directions.
Over the eight years that I have lived in East Wichel, I have done all I can to help create a strong local community. This has included being secretary of the East Wichel Community Association and a member of the Stowe church. Becoming a parent governor is another way in which I can make a positive difference to local families. Finally, as clerk to a number of other school governing bodies in Swindon, I also understand the importance of strong governance. I feel that this knowledge - as well as the skills and experiences I gained in my previous career in recruitment - will inform my thinking and decision making and help contribute to the on-going success of the school.
I am currently (Nov 2019) in my third year of teaching Year 5 at East Wichel Community Primary and Nursery. In my spare time I enjoy rock climbing and playing badminton. I am looking forward to this new and challenging role and supporting the school on its developmental journey in as many ways as possible.
